Vice President Tax Consultant

Our client is seeking a skilled Tax Consultant to support their tax team in managing compliance, partner reporting, and complex tax filings. This is an open-ended tax job. This role offers flexibility in hours depending on seasonal needs, making it an excellent opportunity for a professional seeking both balance and meaningful work in a dynamic tax environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare book-to-tax reconciliations and estimated tax calculations for fund and management company entities.
  • Assist with tax allocations, GP carry waterfalls, and tracking partnership and partner tax basis.
  • Work with external tax providers on the preparation of tax returns and supporting schedules.
  • Compile tax data and review workpapers, Schedule K-1s, and returns prepared by service providers, including promote allocations and book-to-tax differences.
  • Support partnership projections and allocation analyses to help investors and GP partners estimate tax payments.
  • Coordinate with international teams on U.S. reporting related to foreign investments and non-U.S. investors.
  • Gather data for investment and debt analysis to determine appropriate tax treatment.
  • Maintain federal, state, and local tax compliance trackers and assist with ASC 740 tax provisions.
  • Calculate quarterly tax distributions and assist with tax research on complex transactions.
  • Support tax planning initiatives, special projects, and responses to tax authority inquiries or audits.
  • Assist with entity structuring, investor tax inquiries, and required reporting such as FATCA, CRS, and FBAR.
  • Partner with accounting teams and administrators to ensure proper transaction recording and tax reporting.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of tax experience supporting private equity or real estate funds.
  • Big 4 and/or in-house experience with an established asset manager preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. tax rules related to private equity and real estate funds, including withholding and reporting requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; MST a plus; CPA preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tax software platforms.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
